Trujillo/Siemer Residence
Santa Fe, New Mexico

Designer/Builder: Rich Siemer

This old adobe house in downtown Santa Fe began as a dour square divided into four dark, square rooms.  We removed a wall and enlarged openings to give a feeling of openness, admit more natural light and improve indoor/outdoor relationships.  The addition builds on the square theme by adding a 14’x14’ solar heated bedroom.  This is separated from the original house by a metal sheathed mass that houses circulation, closet, bathroom and mechanical space. A south-facing courtyard and a portal on the north provide valuable outdoor living spaces.
